East Lake Foundation received a $10,000 grant from Delta Community Credit Union on Jan. 29 to assist with the Resident and Community Support Program (RCSP) in the Villages of East Lake.

Credit union representatives visited the East Lake Foundation and presented the organization with their award, which a news release states will be used to provide financial education services and career training.

East Lake Foundation collaborates with The Villages of East Lake Residents, Charles R. Drew Charter School families, and other members of the East Lake neighborhood in DeKalb portion of Atlanta “to ensure every member of our community has equitable access to the resources, tools, and supports needed to thrive,” according to the foundation’s website.

“The grant from Delta Community will help residents of the Villages of East Lake achieve financial health by supporting the East Lake Foundation’s financial literacy workshops, education and coaching,” said East Lake Foundation President and CEO Ilham Askia.

The program offers courses in several money-related topics, according to the news release, such as budgeting, establishing credit, retirement planning and homebuying.

The contribution was made through Delta Community’s Philanthropic Fund Program, an annual grant-making initiative to support local, nonprofit organizations that focus on health and human services; financial education; or science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) education.

“Delta Community was founded on the principle of cooperation or ‘people helping people’ to both promote responsible money management and provide access to fairly priced, high-quality banking services,” said Delta Community CEO Hank Halter. “We are pleased to invest in organizations like the East Lake Foundation that foster opportunity and prosperity through practical public programming.”

Throughout 2025, Delta Community’s Philanthropic Fund Program will invest $150,000 in 20 local organizations, according to the news release. More information is available at www.deltacommunitycu.com/community.html.
