Atlanta CASA Receives $10K from Delta Community Credit Union
Fulton Neighbor
Atlanta Court Appointed Special Advocates, a nonprofit advocating for abused and neglected children in Fulton County’s family court system, has been awarded a $10,000 grant from Delta Community Credit Union.
Representatives from Delta Community visited CASA’s facilities to present the grant, which will support the recruitment, training, and retention of volunteers. CASA volunteers regularly visit foster children, assess their situations, and provide reports to judges, who use the information to determine if a child’s home placement is appropriate.
The organization, which is marking its 30th anniversary this year, is seeking additional volunteers to assist children in the metro Atlanta foster care system. Typically, each volunteer is assigned to one or two children or sibling groups at a time. CASA officials estimate that the grant will help recruit and retain approximately 30 volunteers over the next year.
The funding is part of Delta Community’s Philanthropic Fund program, an annual initiative supporting nonprofit organizations in the areas of health and human services, financial education, and STEM education. This year, the program will distribute a total of $150,000 to 20 organizations in metro Atlanta.
