Splurging on something self-indulgent and, maybe, unnecessary, might seem justified, as the COVID-19 pandemic, supply chain disruptions, and challenges with the U.S. economy in the past four years have been stressful for many people, both financially and in other ways. It’s natural to want to reward ourselves using part or all of a tax refund or bonus, which we may think of as extra money that’s different from our regular pay. Keep in mind that tax refunds are money that you’ve already earned. Whether it’s your regular pay or a refund, commission, or bonus, you should be still be responsible with how you use that money.

Did you know that a Delta Community Certificate of Deposit (CD) allows your money to grow at a higher interest rate than a savings account? It helps you grow your money, but unlike a savings or money market account, CDs are a time-based deposit—they are invested for a specific amount of time—with interest rates that can’t go lower than their locked-in annual percentage yield (APY). When the investment time period is complete the certificate of deposit has matured and can be reinvested or become cash.
