Leslie is pursuing a degree in Political Science, with a minor in Public Health, and plans to pursue Civil Rights Law. In addition to excelling academically, she is very active on her campus and committed to serving her community. She is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success and participates in Spelman’s Student Success Peer Lead Program, where she serves as a student advisor and hosts study sessions and academic support groups for freshman. As a member of SpelREADS, she helps elementary school students improve their reading comprehension. Throughout 2021, we will award a total of $10,000 in scholarships to students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the state of Georgia. We will begin accepting nominations for our fourth quarter HBCU Scholarship on October 4. If you know an exceptional student currently attending a Georgia HBCU or a graduating high school senior who has received an official acceptance letter to one, tell us why they deserve to receive a $2,500 scholarship. • Only Scammers Get Paid with Gift Cards or Cryptocurrency: Crime is as old as civilization, and it’s always wise to be on the alert for anyone who may target you as a potential victim. Fraudsters may contact you randomly or target you specifically based on some personal information they have about you, such as an email address, phone number or the name of a company where you have an account. Here are some tips to help protect you from scammers.
  • Living Your Best Life…Insurance—Term vs. Perm: Basically, life insurance is a legal and financial contract—a policy—between an insurance policyholder (an individual or organization) and an insurer, which is usually an insurance company. In the contract, the policyholder pays money—known as the premium—either over time in installments or in a single payment to the insurer. In exchange for the premium, the insurer promises at a later time to pay a specific person (a designated beneficiary) a lump sum of money known as the death benefit upon the death of an insured person, which is often, but not always, the policyholder. Read our blog to learn more about life insurance options.
