What is a card compromise?
Card compromises, an unlawful use of credit or debit card information, have been on the increase in the last few years. Card compromises occur when a merchant or card processor’s database is accessed by unauthorized persons for criminal reasons. Once the information is retrieved, it can be used to create fraudulent accounts and sometimes involves identity theft.
Protecting our cardholders’ personal information is vital to our commitment to protect our members’ account information, and we take extra measures to ensure security of our systems. We have installed many internal layers of security, but when the problem originates elsewhere we still take proactive steps to minimize inconvenience and problems for our cardholders.
What is Delta Community's policy in the event of a card compromise?
When a card compromise associated with a data breach has been identified, Delta Community will receive notification from Visa. Based on the details of the card compromise, Delta Community may activate special fraud rules to monitor for fraudulent activity. We monitor the effectiveness of these rules and will reissue new cards as necessary. If a reissue is necessary, members will be notified. Members may also visit a branch location to receive a new card at their convenience.
