Give Back Giveaway Winners Announced

Last month, Delta Community teamed up with Jenn Hobby from Atlanta radio station Star 94 for the seventh annual $15,000 Give Back Giveaway. We invited metro Atlanta students to organize a service project with their classmates to bring hope, joy and positive change to their communities. We recognized the top five schools, with three finalists receiving $1,000 each, one runner-up receiving $2,000 and one grand prize winner receiving $10,000.

The grand prize winner of $10,000 is Bowdon Elementary School. These amazing students made plans to create a garden to help feed their community. Each grade participated by selecting seeds, planting them and taking care of the garden. Their garden produced over 70 pounds of crops this summer alone, and the food was shared with the community through the school’s “Little Free Pantry.” Watch Star 94 and Delta Community present the students with their check at a surprise reveal at their school!

The $2,000 prize was awarded to Freedom Elementary School. These students created Thanksgiving Baskets, which provides everything a family needs for a Thanksgiving meal, including food items and trimmings, in a reusable laundry basket. The project was set up to deliver great holiday meals with some extra “trimmings” to brighten the day of families in need during Thanksgiving.

The three $1,000 finalists are:

• Lovinggood Middle School, where students raised money to create a sensory room for disabled classmates.
• Campbell High School, where students fundraised for the Water Project and helped build multiple wells for clean, safe water for people in Africa.
• Newcomer Academy, whose students created “Newcomer Boutique,” a student-run clothing closet for people in need.

Congratulations to all these amazing students who worked hard to bring positive change to their communities!

Take a Payment Holiday

Did you know that you may be eligible for a Payment Holiday? Keep some extra cash in your pocket and skip your eligible loan payments, just in time for the holidays.⁵

Keep in mind before requesting your Payment Holiday, loans must be open for a minimum of six months to be eligible. Real Estate Loans, Business Loans, Overdraft Protection, Holiday Loans, Consumer Lines of Credit, Visa^® Young Adult and Secured Credit Cards and single-pay loans are not eligible for this offer.

A Payment Holiday may be requested up to the payment date⁶ via Online Banking—all loans that are eligible for a Payment Holiday will be displayed. Interest will continue to accrue, your normal payment will resume the following month and your loan maturity date will be extended, if applicable.

To request a Payment Holiday, simply log in to Online Banking and select Payment Holiday from the Loans tab.

Check washing is when fraudsters first steal paper checks from personal (or even U.S. Postal Service office) mailboxes and then soak them in ink-removing chemicals to erase the information handwritten on the check, such as the payee name, dollar amount and date, creating blank spaces for the scammer to write in whatever new information they want.
